so dumb dealer stuff aside, where the hells the oil going? my boss added a quart yesterday, the level went up, and it was back down again this morning so he just added another quart. I havn't investigated this but there is no dipstick, just a meter on the dash.
you can (barely) see the meter is just above the horn on the dash. I searched his engine bay, checked the ground and the office driveway and no oil. so is he running around with a whole bunch of oil or is it really going somewhere. I told him to have it towed to the office, he wanted to go see what happens if he went to get coffee....

Sounds like there's a problem with oil consumption. That's not cool.
Also, if there's a scrape pan or belly pan on the car the oil usually pools in that before it drips down onto the ground. Also also, if the oil is leaking onto a surface it will burn off or evaporate leaving little evidence except residue. Either way, it should probably go back to the dealer.

the belly pan theory sounds strong. I dont know if I could get to it here (office) I think it has run flats/no jack so i can;t get any height on to it. I was just amazed that with how much it could potentially be losing there was no spray anywhere.

Similar stuff happened to my grandpa Opel Vectra. After he passed away, my aunt was supposed to take care of it. Except she didn't.
When we traveled to her place, my dad borrowed the car, and decided to check it on a gas station. The dipstick WAS CLEAN. Not even a smudge of oil. There was oil only inside the filter, that was circulating when the car was moving, as we found out 15 minutes parked in, when the oil went back to the carter.
In total there was half a liter of oil in the engine. It uses 4 liters. So I suggest a check on oil filters and drip pan, it may have accumulated there.

Is there any blow by on the undercarriage? Something pressurized could be leaking but only while the engine is running and/or revving past a certain point.
My Oil level sensor leak would only push out oil if I revved past 15oorpm, so there was no oil on the driveway when I woke up.

if you were losing that much oil the belly pan wouldnt hold it

It is all down hill so he probably wouldn't even be on the gas. I checked every little gap i could see in the engine bay. that thing is really packed in tight. I couldn't really look under it but i checked the parking lot and driveway and didn;t see anything. its raining out so i'm not really interested in laying down to there to see under it.

Who ever thought that removing the dipstick and replacing it with a computer readout needs to be taken out back and beaten with a lead pipe.
Spent an hour looking for the dipstick on my wife's car but couldn't find it. In order to get the oil level I have to run the engine for a couple of minutes, yeah that's the best thing to do to an engine that is low on oil (or if it's been overfilled). Fucking idiots...
To your problem though, if it's losing that much oil that quickly something terribly wrong has happened. Possibly a blown head gasket.

drips yes, but a quart overnight is huge. That would be a murder scene under there, especially after driving it. Any blue smoke? Sensor could be bad. You need to suss it before dumping oil in there and possibly having seal problems or a hydrolock. Are you sure there isnt a yellow handled dipstick on the front of the engine, near the passenger side headlight?

He just took off for the dealer. I'm thinking it could be a bad sensor and hes riding around like an oil tanker. I guess he put in 3 quarts yesterday.

Yeah, I'd be looking for a pool somewhere. I have a slow leak in my car (1 qt every 3000 mi, not too bad), but any that burns causes the entire car to stink of burning oil, and this happens semi-frequently. So if you're losing that much and smoke isn't pouring out from under the hood, then it's still liquid, somewhere.
I did actually have oil smoke pour out of the hood of my Celica back in college when I changed the oil quickly and didn't tighten the oil filter all the way. That car still smells like oil, ten years later.

I didn’t quite understand the expanation / care to listen when he came back. I had just found out that the office was going to hire a Facebook consultant so u was thinking I need to get another job. Anyway I think he said it was something like when the oil is cold it will read low so if he had let the car warm up it would be ok. So he had added a whole bunch of oil when he didn’t need to. I also think he added regular oil when it had synthetic. They drained the oil and put new stuff in.
